Audit Reports
The audit report of a panchayat is an official document that examines whether the financial transactions, income and expenditure, implementation of projects, tax collection and development activities of the panchayat have been carried out legally and efficiently. The State Audit Department or the Local Fund Audit Department examines the accounts of the panchayat and prepares a report. The report points out errors, irregularities, unnecessary expenses, clerical errors, loss of income, etc. in the accounts. It also assesses the administrative efficiency of the panchayat and the transparency in the use of public funds. The panchayat should take necessary steps to address the suggestions in the audit report and strengthen future financial controls based on it.
